Aging Without Kids

About

Welcome to Aging Without Kids.

My name is Jeanette, and like many women, I’ve built a full and meaningful life, just not one that includes children of my own. I come from a big family of five kids, and while my siblings have gone on to raise children and even a couple have even become grandparents, my path, however, has been different. That difference has shaped the way I see the world, aging, and the importance of creating community and support systems around me that don’t rely solely on family ties.

I started Aging Without Kids because I wanted a space where people like us could gather, share resources, and feel seen. Society often assumes that aging automatically means having adult children or grandchildren around, but that’s simply not true for everyone. Many of us are living full, vibrant, and independent lives, and yet, the question of “who will be there for me as I grow older?” often lingers quietly in the background. This blog is my way of shining light on that reality while offering encouragement, practical tools, and connection.

For me, this journey began in midlife. I’ve reinvented myself more than once, through career changes, marriage, and self-discovery. Along the way, I noticed how often conversations about aging left out voices like ours, mine if I’m being transparent. Having no children doesn’t mean having no family or community; it just means we may need to approach our future with more intention. Whether it’s thinking about finances, housing, health, or building strong social networks, I’ve learned that thriving in midlife and beyond is possible, and I want to share that knowledge here with you.

I bring a unique perspective as a life and wellness coach, a yoga teacher, and a realtor! My professional work has always focused on helping people live healthier, more purposeful lives. But beyond credentials, I bring lived experience, the real, everyday questions of navigating aging without children of my own. I know what it’s like to carve out a path that isn’t the “traditional” one, and I know how important it is to feel empowered, connected, and prepared for what’s ahead.

Aging Without Kids exists to create a positive, supportive, and practical space for people navigating life without adult children by their side. Whether you never had kids, are estranged, physically distanced, or in a position where they will always need more help from you than you will or could receive from them, or simply don’t have that built-in family support, this is a place to share tips, resources, and encouragement. Our focus is on four pillars of thriving: Financial, Health, Housing, and Social Connection.

My mission is simple: to build a community where we can age with confidence, strength, and joy – together.

This isn’t just my story, it’s ours. Aging Without Kids is meant to be a gathering space/place where we can learn from one another, share our experiences, and celebrate the many ways we are building meaningful, fulfilling lives. I invite you to join the conversation, share your voice, and help shape a community where none of us feel alone.

Because while we may not have children of our own, we have each other—and together, we can create a powerful, supportive circle for the years ahead.
